A New Year A New You
Ghosts.
John warned people. She told them not to interact with the ghosts. Persephone warned people. She told them that some of them weren’t ghosts at all. But no one listened. And after three months whatever tenuous hold the Sphere had upon those ghosts have been broken. The ghosts are here, and they are hungry. They’re hungry for life, for knowledge, to give people knowledge and of course to make certain that the Sphere becomes a city of the dead like them.

For the most part, the ghosts are feral, even the ones that have been fine before as they slipped in and out of being around and not. But they are not all ghosts of people. No, they are the ghosts of everything that has had a body that has died in the Sphere: sirens, skeletons, androids, people. How much less intelligent they were determines how feral and animal like the ghosts have become and how violent their attacks will be. For example: the most violent ghosts are the sirens, following that are the skeletons, following that the ghosts of NPCs with ghost of player characters lasting the longest.

Other than Annie I mean. She has a special part to play later.

Ghosts are drawn to single parties, or to small groups of them, the life the people offer like a beacon in the blackness of their minds. Their attacks aren’t coordinated—more often than not they’re simply striking out with energy claws and attempting to drain the life out of people. At first fighting them off is relatively easy to do, like a nightmare it’s simply getting away. But as people start to congregate into groups the attacks become larger, more powerful and more dangerous.

It is during this time that weapons will be come apparent: salt of course, placed in a circle around people, anything silver, and people of faith will also be protected. What that faith in is up to you, however.

your character dies as a result of this attack, they will be considered a ghost for the rest of the plot with all that comes with it, including attacking others. If you wish your character to die consider the timing in that. Automatic saving from death is suspended during this plot, but if your character dies they lose any powers they have.

However, there will be some ghosts who will want to talk to your characters. They will want to answer questions for them. Those will be placed in a separate NPC tag below. This is where Annie comes in, so if characters have issues with her, that may be an important thing to consider. Because Annie will remember.

In a desperate attempt to stop the attacks and the Sphere itself, the giant golden glowball will try something dangerous. It’s going to attempt to reset people using their memories. However this is going to backfire badly. Instead it will cause dead characters from people’s past to show up for the last day of the plot only January 28th. No dead characters from the persons home world may appear before then and they will disappear on January 29th. Please keep in mind these will be feral ghosts and not actually the characters themselves and they should be treated as such.

On January 29th at midnight, the Sphere will do something even more desperate: it will kill everyone within the Sphere which means everyone wakes up in their domes in the sunken bed on the floor. There is no penalty involved in this death, no memory loss or anything like that and everyone within the Sphere will be reset and the ghosts will be absent.

"I was affected last time. Things used my..." But then as quick as a switch was flipped, the emotion leaves Annie's eyes and her face becomes blank. "Parameters too broad. More specific inquiry requested."

Enis's eyes narrowed. "What were you affected why and what did it use? Was it native to the sphere?" She had a hundred questions but she had to know more about Annie for her to gauge what this woman might know.

"Moss. It isn't native to the Sphere, but it is native to the ocean we're in. Now. It wished to spread across the galaxies that you are all from. I was created here." The same robotic voice.

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-02-10 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Enis logged away that information for later. "The moss got into the sphere from the ocean. Where can we get into the sphere. If we want to learn more?" This might be her best chance to learn a way to dive further into the sphere, even if she only finds strange monsters.

"The area was sealed during the Sphere reasserting control. It's unable to return to the Sphere. The area is outside safety parameters for humans or any beings currently within the sphere."

"What area below the sphere can we go? There must be somewhere..." It was possible that there wasn't anywhere but Enis wanted a way to get into the sphere if she can. At the very least to learn how she can stay here or go with Rhys.

“There are Avenues available for searching, but all inhabitable areas have been searched. The ones that remain uninvestigated would eventually cause certain death to anyone within the Sphere.” But there’s that eventually word, isn’t there.

"I'm okay with dying if it means I can learn something about this place." It's also help if she came back and told the people here what she'd learned. "It's worth it, don't you think?"

Rhys probably didn't agree but that was fine. Enis was making an executive decision.

"There is no guarantee that you would learn anything." Annie's voice is gentler than it had been other wise, but it picks up some of the edge again when she adds, "and there's every possibility that you would be beyond the Sphere's ability to bring you back to life."
blindpuppet: (You coming)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-02-23 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would be fine with that." However there was someone in Enis's life that would not be okay with that. "But I see your point. For the record, I have no intention of leaving this world to return home. I simply want control of where I go and when." Or maybe just to know some about the strange place she'd found herself in. Enis hated not knowing things.

Annie looks like Annie and she just frowns at the woman, and shakes her head. "Life is always better than death. I don't understand why you would want to stop existing. I had myself shut down so that I would be able to be turned on when it would be safe. Dying here isn't safe. It just ends."

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-02-26 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think that depends on your life Annie." Enis's voice was soft but sad. She hasn't been given a chance to live and while she has that chance here, she's grown up as an experiment. Her life has never met anything. It was hard for her to change that point of view.

"I might be able to fix you, so you don't have to shut down. Then you can live." Enis didn't care about herself but she had a soft spot for a few others.
spherenpc: (annie)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-02-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I do not think you can fix me," Annie's voice is sad. "And it's probably not a good idea to fix me while Max is still here." Which was true. "When I was created, it was meant for me to be a gift: a copy of his daughter who could not be taken or sent home. But he did not see it as such. He only saw a mockery of the woman that his daughter would never grow into being. I am the only one here within the Sphere that did not come from somewhere else. I will still be here when the rest of you are gone. I will be back then."
blindpuppet: (What are you talking about)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-02-28 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Enis had an alright relationship with Max. She didn't know him very well but he seemed nice, likely because he'd seen the rougher parts of her memories thanks to the sphere's interruption. "I see." Her expression fell. "That is cruel, for you both. What if we make you a different body? One that looked different."

Then she could be whoever she wanted to be.

"It's alright if the sphere is your home."

"There are still things that I've done. I'll come back when those I've wronged aren't here anymore. Because it's not fair to them to need to live with that. And with that fear." Annie just sighs softly, and she touches the circle behind her ear. "My creator didn't mean it to be cruel. She didn't understand humans. She didn't understand them like the Sphere didn't."

blindpuppet: (Default)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-03-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"It takes error to understand and it is human to have error." It was a simple statement but it carried such weight with Enis. She wanted this woman to understand, perhaps because she felt a kinship with her.
spherenpc: (Default)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-03-04 04:18 am (UTC)(link)

"I have errors, and I am not human and I still don't understand. I don't believe I ever will. It's good to be different sometimes too." It sounds like an old manta, one that she's repeated to herself before.

blindpuppet: (Come here)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-03-09 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's good to be different but if there is something you want, you should make it happen. No one will make it happen for you. You can be who you want." Her fingers curl into fists as she begins to tremble. This is her own mantra, one that she often repeats to herself as well. She doesn't want anyone to give up their chance on life, even if she has.
spherenpc: (annie)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-03-10 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Despite being an android, there is compassion when she sees Enis start to tremble like that. Her voice is kind and gentle, and human sounding, even if she herself would never consider herself to be one. "You seem to care much for someone who is so willing to die here if you are given the option to do it."
blindpuppet: (You can't)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-03-11 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Enis bit the inside of her cheek, tasting the copper aroma of blood roll across her tongue as she tried to steady her temper. When she spoke, her voice was stof and tight. "I don't want others to know the life that I was born into. A single room and purpose isn't enough."
spherenpc: (annie)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-03-11 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
“The life that you were born into isn’t the life you have here though. While yes, you did not chose to come here, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have your choices to make. There can be a life for you here if you chose to have one.”
blindpuppet: (You coming)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-03-12 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"It isn't." She agreed softly. Enis was a bit conflicted about her life here but she didn't know if Anne would understand. "I can have a life here until some force happens to send me back." She might stay in the Sphere if she was given the choice.

"I'm tired of not having control." The one thing she can control was how she will one day die.
spherenpc: (annie)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-03-15 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Dying isn't control. Dying is the ultimate lack of it. If you die, then you don't even have control over what your legacy was."
blindpuppet: (Default)

[personal profile] blindpuppet 2020-03-16 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never had control over my legacy." Her father made sure of that. "The only thing I can choose is how I die. Everything else had been taken from me."
spherenpc: (Default)

[personal profile] spherenpc 2020-03-18 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)

"No one has control over your legacy here but you." It's said simply, and softly but firmly. "You don't need to die for that."
