A New Year A New You
Ghosts.
John warned people. She told them not to interact with the ghosts. Persephone warned people. She told them that some of them weren’t ghosts at all. But no one listened. And after three months whatever tenuous hold the Sphere had upon those ghosts have been broken. The ghosts are here, and they are hungry. They’re hungry for life, for knowledge, to give people knowledge and of course to make certain that the Sphere becomes a city of the dead like them.

For the most part, the ghosts are feral, even the ones that have been fine before as they slipped in and out of being around and not. But they are not all ghosts of people. No, they are the ghosts of everything that has had a body that has died in the Sphere: sirens, skeletons, androids, people. How much less intelligent they were determines how feral and animal like the ghosts have become and how violent their attacks will be. For example: the most violent ghosts are the sirens, following that are the skeletons, following that the ghosts of NPCs with ghost of player characters lasting the longest.

Other than Annie I mean. She has a special part to play later.

Ghosts are drawn to single parties, or to small groups of them, the life the people offer like a beacon in the blackness of their minds. Their attacks aren’t coordinated—more often than not they’re simply striking out with energy claws and attempting to drain the life out of people. At first fighting them off is relatively easy to do, like a nightmare it’s simply getting away. But as people start to congregate into groups the attacks become larger, more powerful and more dangerous.

It is during this time that weapons will be come apparent: salt of course, placed in a circle around people, anything silver, and people of faith will also be protected. What that faith in is up to you, however.

your character dies as a result of this attack, they will be considered a ghost for the rest of the plot with all that comes with it, including attacking others. If you wish your character to die consider the timing in that. Automatic saving from death is suspended during this plot, but if your character dies they lose any powers they have.

However, there will be some ghosts who will want to talk to your characters. They will want to answer questions for them. Those will be placed in a separate NPC tag below. This is where Annie comes in, so if characters have issues with her, that may be an important thing to consider. Because Annie will remember.

In a desperate attempt to stop the attacks and the Sphere itself, the giant golden glowball will try something dangerous. It’s going to attempt to reset people using their memories. However this is going to backfire badly. Instead it will cause dead characters from people’s past to show up for the last day of the plot only January 28th. No dead characters from the persons home world may appear before then and they will disappear on January 29th. Please keep in mind these will be feral ghosts and not actually the characters themselves and they should be treated as such.

On January 29th at midnight, the Sphere will do something even more desperate: it will kill everyone within the Sphere which means everyone wakes up in their domes in the sunken bed on the floor. There is no penalty involved in this death, no memory loss or anything like that and everyone within the Sphere will be reset and the ghosts will be absent.

"It isn't him." Her voice was very soft but confident. "It's the sphere, a nightmare. One of the magics here. The man you want to face isn't here." Her expression softened as she turned back to meet Daenerys gaze. "Ghosts aren't of this plane. They are ethereal. I can make him go away for awhile but the sphere prays on our memories and he will return."

This ghost was a product of Daenerys memories. As long as she existed, so did the ghost.

"Even if you defeat it. It might return." Her steps slowed to a stop and she lifted a hand towards the oncoming ghost. A wave of silver light was released from the tips of her fingers and the figure faded, at least for a short moment. "Be safe for now. These... are only meant to hurt us and I know that we don't know each other well but I don't want to see you hurt."

"I know it isn't him." She had seen him die, he still carried the crown Drogo bequeathed him. The smell of his burnt skin rotted in the air, making her overwhelmed and dizzy, certain she would still be able to smell it for days after. It wasn't the man she feared any longer, his apparition was nothing more than a shadow of the past.

But she would not run from shadows.

"I will at least have defeated it for a time." It meant that he wouldn't be lurking, that he wouldn't realize that there was a nephew out there. Viserys' jealousy and anger had been monstrous in her mind. If he was a product of her nightmares, she could imagine how terrible it would be.

"I will not run. I cannot." She looked back to Angel, holding her dagger as Ivar had taught her. "Shadows can be defeated and specters will not have control of us. Running, it means that we will cower until this place has had its fun. We are not their playthings, we must fight back."

"Do you have the means too?" Inesa's voice was very soft. "I will not stop you from fighting but you need magic or elements of the ethereal plane. Richard said iron and salt help but I don't believe anything else can touch them."

She reaches out towards the ghostly figure with her palm and gently summons the water spirit from her chest. "This is my friend. He can help you fight it, help you touch it." Inesa looks at the spirit and smiles. "Keep her safe, will you? I promise I'll be back." The blue light flickers and flies into Daenerys blade, warming it a deep blue before returning to its usual steely gray.

"There. He can't work forever. When he's weak he'll likely return to me or the nearest form of water to regain his strength but he'll help you." She paused again and her expression saddens. "I hope that this helps you some. I hope you can defeat your ghosts. Just know, you aren't alone."

Her blade was steel, useless then...that was until the water spirit encompassed her blade. It shown and glimmered, the steel a sharp blue to her eyes. It reminded her of the snow against moonlight, one of the few sights that stayed with her after the House of the Undying. The color was close to the blue rose that grew against the the ice, but without its vibrancy.

She nodded in thanks, gripping the hilt of her blade as Viserys approached. The man who was once her brother, his voice nothing more than a harsh gurgle. Was he still calling to her for help? It seemed more likely that he was warning her that she had woken the dragon.

"Where do I find you after?"

She smiled and inclined her head towards the sword. "He can find me and if not, give him to Jon." In case she didn't make it through this mess...

"I should need to go and check on others but please be safe."
