A MAGICAL MEETING OF MINDS [CLOSED]
WHO: Inësa & Harry Dresden
WHAT: A meeting of magical minds.
WHEN: Mid/Late December… ish.
WHERE: The fabric shop; Angelic Attire & Fabrics
WARNINGS: n/a.
Angelic Attire & Fabrics is located in an unassuming building. The storefront itself is small with a total of four figures in the windows, each dressed in styles that bridge both feminine and masculine as well as classic and modern. There is no one set clothing style but the miscellaneous decorations appear to be primarily constructed of furr or lace; likely a favorite of the owners and not the customers. The windows are frosted with the newer addition of cut out snowflakes and a familiar happy looking elf in the window. It does not look like it's doing anything nefarious but there is a half eaten plate of cookies sitting in front of it.
It doesn't look as eerie as it should.
When Harry steps inside a bell chimes, alerting the room of a new customer. There isn't anyone currently in the main room of the shop. The shelves of fabric have been pushed so that they lined the walls instead of creating rows across the room. Everything was neatly stacked and the polished white floor had been wiped down and cleaned. Along the floor was a clean white rug that made it look like there was snow circling the middle of the floor.
To the back left of the room is Lancelot's pen with real patches of grass lining the edges. The bunny is currently wearing a top hat that's been gnawed at and it looks as if there might be scraps of what might have once been bunny clothing scattered around the pen.
The back counter looks to be much the same with thread, fabrics and Inesa's sketchbook neatly arranged on the table with a small love seat placed behind it.
Inesa is easy to spot when she steps out from the back room of the shop. Her hair is down, loosely falling between slender shoulders in wheat colored waves. The dress she wears is white with a baby blue apron tied around her thin waist. She looks normal if not for her gray-blue eyes and the way that magic radiates from her. In a way she has miss lead him, it isn't that Inesa can use magic-- she is made of magic with a body she's formed to keep the overwhelming power delicately contained.]

You must be Harry. Am I right?
I am Inesa.

He cleared his throat awkwardly, swallowed to wet his lips and tongue before trying to speak.]
That's me, I'm Harry. And you're...Inesa?
no subject
[She confirms with a warm smile.]
It's nice to finally met you Mr. Harry. In person, that is. I hope my shop wasn't too difficult to find. I am not very good at offering directions though I've been practicing that as well.
[Inesa reaches for her sketchbook before crossing the space between them. She is obviously the source of the magic but there is something about her body that keeps her magic carefully contained.]
no subject
It kind of shines like a beacon, if you know what you're looking for. [Or if you have a suicidal curiosity.]
And it's just Harry.
no subject
It's like this everywhere. Even the ground and the sky.
[Her voice becomes wistful.]
It's beautiful though.
Harry then. I know we spoke about practice but I did draw up some designs for you, for clothes. I thought that you might like these.
no subject
Yeah, I’m beginning to see that. [Even if they really thought they did, but he didn’t include that little tidbit in his reply. Instead, he busied himself looking around the place, taking note of where one thing was, or another. You never knew when you were going to need details like that when you were running from a demon…or something worse.]
And you know, I might like it. This isn’t…bad. Not at all. Don’t get that impression, please. It’s just…obvious when it’s the only thing around.
[And the more he looks around, the more he realizes this isn’t something he can help with. Inesa doesn’t do magic. She is magic, and who the Hell is he to direct her?]
I’m not really a fashionista, Inesa. I’ll wear whatever.
no subject
I know. I was hoping to just see your face when you look at them or when we talk. Styles everywhere are very different. From what you're wearing now... you're from Earth, around the same time that I was brought here. That helps, I have found some nice fabrics that are durable if you move around a lot.
[She points to where it looks like his pants might be wearing thin.]
That's why I wanted to talk to you in person. [As oblivious as Inesa is, she is very astute when it comes to clothing and culture. It's always interested her.]
And...[She pauses a bit awkwardly.] I wanted to talk to you about magic too. I- I know that my magic isn't like human magic. But the man I am seeing... he doesn't have a good opinion on magic. It... worries me. I left before I learned what I could do and- do you really think I might hurt someone? Like those I care about. I don't think... I could live with myself if I did that.
no subject
[He chuckles uneasily and moves closer. She had him pegged, that was for sure.
He frowned, listening to her concerns.]
I don't...know. I've never really encountered anything like you.
no subject
You haven't but you use magic, don't you?
[Her brow furrows as if she's considering his words.]
Not many of my kind leave our world. I only know of two who ever have... me and my sister. And... well, I can't return home now that I have left. I don't know who to ask. I wish I had time to finish my teachings.
no subject
[He took the offered page but didn't pay much attention to it. Clothing was never a big deal for Harry and something much more interesting was right in front of him.]
Okay...but...what are your kind? Why can't you go back? Where did you come from?
no subject
[She frowns and tries her best to explain.]
My world is surrounded by magic, the souls of those born on the planet and while we are born we do not die... We simply submit our souls to the magic that shields the world but we aren't meant to leave. If we do, the cycle is broken and our life cannot be added back to the world.
I left to follow my sister. We are another rarity. There aren't families there... not exactly.
The form I wear now isn't my true form. [she gently captured a strand of hair and toyed with it between two fingers.] It keeps my magic contained. Though, I wish I could be human.
no subject
Okay...how are you born? And if there aren't families, how do you have a sister?
no subject
There are women who give birth however we are not conceived through sex the way humans are. I can have sex and I believe I can conceive in that way but I don't have any children.
[It's something she's thought about and it felt important to add in.]
Twins, in my world are rare and a bad omen. We should have been killed but he Elder couldn't bring himself to do it.
I do not know how we were conceived though. I believe it was a power that people on earth refer to as God or a God. Since I do think there are likely many.
no subject
That's...remarkable.
no subject
[To her, this had been so normal that she doesn't realize how odd it might sound.]
Is it? How?
no subject
no subject
I know. I apologize if I have made you uncomfortable. I admit that I often speak freely of topics that not everyone is comfortable with but I can be more mindful in the future.
I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable.
no subject
[He shook his head.]
I've just...never met anything like you, and...that sounds pretty rude.
no subject
Besides my sister, I do not know of anyone else who has left our world.
no subject
[He nods, still looking slightly confused.]
But they'd have to have, right? Or how would anyone have been contacted by Angels?
no subject
I don't know everything but I remember reading some from the history books that I used to study. There are many worlds like ours but ours was created for another reason. It is magic, we are magic and it is protected by that magic.
I never finished reading about it. I wish I had it now but that was why we were not to leave. I know that I am dangerous. If I didn't have this form... I don't know what would happen. [She takes her sketchbook and places it gently on the counter before turning towards Harry.]
I can keep this form and keep my magic contained but your words before. They made me wish to control it more. I want to keep the people I care about safe. [Even if that means that she has to protect them from herself.]
no subject
I understand that. [And he did, at least to an extent.] I just...I don't even know if you are dangerous. I...could look. [And that sounded like a terrible idea even to his own ears.]
Are you familiar with the third sight?
