Holiday mingle log
It’s the most wonderful (welcome) time of the year
Christmas is coming earlier and earlier every year, which isn't a surprise but hey they're starting the Christmas/Winter stuff the week before thanksgiving. Because why not. this month’s party takes place in the Merchant dome. But it’s not the everyday appearance of the merchant dome. No, for the next five days the Merchant dome’s appearance has been altered to look like a sort of Bavarian Christmas Market. There are small clusters of tables every so often, so people can just sit and chat and eat and drink.
Some enterprising person has even managed to make it snow through some unknown means. It’s not cold, but the snow is soft and steady and slowly building up.
The entire dome, all of the streets and all of the merchant stalls are practically glowing with white fairy lights that are strung everywhere. Vendors in their stalls gleefully cry out to paterons passing by, offering them free food or drinks. The food consists of the sort of things that one might expect to find in a place like this: sausages on buns and on sticks, pretzels, pizza, loads of cookies of every variety that one could think of, including elaborately decorated gingerbread, chocolates, fruits, french fries. Think winter fair food, and be as absurd and as complicated and extra as you want. It is a fair, after all. Go nuts. Drinks are also along the same line: hot cider, mulled wine, hot buttered rum, hot chocolate both with booze and without, as well as all the normal things: water, coffee, tea, milk, soda, and a variety of fruit juices that you’ve both heard of and not.
But food isn’t the only free thing that people are giving away! They’re also offering characters hats and gloves and scarves, small toys, books, delicate ornaments, perfumes, wine… it’s a giant welcome party after all, and these people are cheerful and happy. Even offering to pay just gets met with laughter and being told not to worry about it.
Fun and frivolity.
There are even carnival rides set up! A medium sized ferris wheel, a carousel, a giant slide and ice skating ring are all along the outside of the stalls.
At the far end of the dome, the snow has fallen deeper and held to several inches. Wouldn’t you know it just happens to be perfect snowball snow! So, there of course needs to be a snowball fight! What did you think those free mittens and gloves and scarves are for after all? The snowball fight can be organized into teams, or one on one depending on the player’s choice. This is a friendly fight, of course, so no rocks or slush balls or anything. Well, probably not. No one in the Sphere is your mother.
So you want some summer?.
While the welcome party rages on in the merchant dome, people have made a smaller party in one of the recreation domes. Around the pools, as a matter of fact. There’s almost like a small barbecue clustered around the largest of the three pools, and the light is constant and sunny here. The large pool is olympic sized, and is a sparkling blue. It’s fresh water, and probably clean enough to drink. I still wouldn’t drink it. The second pool is slightly smaller and more kidney shaped with a gradual sand mound at one end of it. This pool is salt water and looks a bit more like a beach than a pool. The third pool is a kiddie pool, complete with a splash pad, that’s running. Buckets drop, it’s got one of those mushroom things, and sprinkler jets. There aren’t any kids though, so people are welcome to go nuts.
Bathing suits and towels are provided in the changing rooms. There’s frozen and fruity drinks flowing freely, along with finger food and snacks. Loud music is playing from a local band that’s just generally of a pop sort. There’s people dancing rather in a rather haphazard fashion, but the dance floor is there and present!
Oh yeah, and there's definitely the baths and everything too!

You know, I think you’re right. Definitely different from the last rabbit he tried to befriend. He kept sitting next to Richie’s rabbit, and it kept hopping away. But Lancelot and him seem like they’re going to get along well?
[He liked that, it was a very sweet sight. His attention shifted curiously to the topic of hats and clothes.]
Then I would be delighted to purchase some clothes from you for him, and myself as well.
[and he’d be sure to pay her well, nice clothes were worth the money. Even if they were for a dog, her work was impressive.]
I’ll be sure to stop by after the festivities? Once you’ve had a chance to work on things, I’m not sure how easy he’ll be to take measurements. He can be a bit wriggly at times.
[And on the subject of her shop, his mind flit on to another thing.]
I’d been meaning to ask... You carry ribbons of all sorts, right? Do you um, sell them as well? I want to do something, but I’ve been quite unable to find what I need.
[He sounds slightly more awkward as he asks this, a touch bashful looking perhaps.]

Yes. He is very brave and he likes making friends. I worry that he feels lonely when I work so much. [Which is why she goes out of her way to carry Lancelot with her, even if she can't give him her full attention.
She turns back to Llewellyn and starts to think about clothes, letting the two fuzzy friends get better acquainted without an audience. There are a lot of styles that she thinks would suit Pretzel but it was important to balance design with comfort when designing clothing for animals.]
I will design a few ideas and you can stop by and see them. [Her smile widens.] And I'm sure we can find ways to keep him still. [If bribing doesn't work, Inesa can always try and sing a calming song for the cute pup.
She nods her head in a soft incline.] Yes. I use then in my design at times. You are welcome to purchase them on their own. What kind of ribbons are you looking for?
no subject
[He had read (had been reading a lot of late about animals) that it was good for animals to socialize, just like people. So he wouldn’t mind letting them run around the office once in a while. As it was, Rhy had once offered to take Pretzel when he was busy, but they had been worried the two animals might not get along around Inesa’s shop.
That worry seemed delightfully unnecessary now.]
I’ll definitely try to think of a few things that might help distract him, I have trained him to sit with treats.
[Stay was a work in progress, but he’s getting there!
The confirmation gets a little relieved smile, he’s so glad Inesa didn’t mind him purchasing some ribbon. The idea simply wouldn’t work properly otherwise, at least not to his mind as tradition went in his own world.]
I um... I need one length of a red silk ribbon? I also need several lengths of teal chiffon ribbon. There are others, but those are the important ones for the moment? They don’t need to be too long, just enough to uh— secure flowers?
no subject
[She doesn't know another about dog training. She can use her magic to calm animals but she'd likely just spoil Pretzel to get him to hold still and then spoil him some more.
He's too cute not to spoil.]
I can do that. About this long?
[Inesa holds out her hands to be about a foot and a half of ribbon.] If you want a bow or something. Otherwise, I'd be this long... [She holds her hands slightly closer together.]
no subject
[He tried to keep some clear spaces at least, though that had only happened once he learned that when things were left on the floor around a new puppy, they were considered the puppy’s property.]
I’ll be sure to bring him by then, or Rhy might decide to if he happens to be working with you that day, I expect. [Has Llewellyn considered the fact that the statement might be a little strange? No. The detective had the occasional tendency to say things randomly without context though.] I’m sure he’ll enjoy visiting your shop, I always find it to be a pleasant environment compared to other indoor spaces. Mm... though I caution you to not leave materials on the floor. He does like to play tug-o-war with things like socks and handkerchiefs.
[Between Inesa, Rhy, and Llewellyn... Pretzel was undoubtedly going to grow into a very spoiled dog at this rate.
The question of length gets a small moment of thought, just as he tried to visualize what he intended.]
Oh... I think long enough for a bow would be good. Bows um— bows do look nicer than just tying a knot, right?
no subject
I take it that Rhy watches Pretzel often? I can see them enjoying each other's company.
[If there is subtext to Llewllyn's words, Inesa does not pick up on it.]
I won't let him in the backroom then. There are always things falling to the floor. That's where the sewing machines are. [She can't help it when cutting out large designs or hemming dresses.]
Yes. Bow's look nicer. I can pre-tye them if you'd like and make sure they're perfect.
no subject
Mm... Yes, he does tend to dote on him when we’ve been at his dome? He was a little worried about taking him for the day though if he was going to be at the shop, just in case Lancelot didn’t take to him.
[Which didn’t seem to be a problem, a nice turn of events, really. A cute turn of events, if he was being honest while he glanced down at the little creatures again.]
Oh— that might be helpful... I do want them to be perfect. [He responded a bit shyly, though there was also that nagging part of his mind that wanted to learn to do it himself. This was, after all, rather important to him for a variety of reasons.] But perhaps you’d be able to show me how to make them perfect? To um... practice.
no subject
Inesa meets his gaze and inclines her head in a quick nod.] I would be happy to teach you. When can you stop by? I will be back at the shop tomorrow and the day after though I will likely be spending the afternoons around the city. I absolutely love the snow and I don't want to miss it.
[She plans to spend a lot of time enjoying the festivities.]
no subject
Indeed, we will. He’ll be quite pleased to hear it I think.
[His smile only grew, its tone a tad relieved when she agreed to teach him how to properly tie the bows. Yes, it was probably simple enough... But he was anxious and wanted to make these are perfect as he could manage considering how clumsy he knew himself to be.]
Mm... Tomorrow works for me? Though I can certainly work around whatever is easiest for you, Inesa. I wouldn’t want to keep you from things like enjoying the festivities. I just appreciate the assistance with this... I’m clumsy at best most times, and I want to do better with this at least.
no subject
[She looks down at the pair who are continuing to sniff each other.]
Would you like me to watch Pretzel for a bit? Then him and Lancelot can get better acquainted.
no subject
[He grinned, before his gaze turned back to their smaller companions. It would be sad to separate them now... It wasn’t often Pretzel got to socialize with other animals of late. So he nodded, a little while wouldn’t hurt.]
Thank you, that’s a nice idea. They seem to like one another so... For a little while, I’ll be sure to return before too long.
[Because he’s sure Inesa and Lancelot must have other plans for the day as well. This was the start of something nice though, and he was glad for it.]
no subject
We can meet someone in an hour or so, or simply meet back here, on this bench.
no subject
[He responded with a small smile. Never having been to one, Llewellyn wasn’t too familiar with weddings, but they definitely seemed like a busy event. Then when you factored in the holidays that most people were eager to celebrate, Inesa would undoubtedly be kept quite busy.
So pulling out his pocket watch to double check the time, he nodded.]
I’ll meet you back here in an hour then. If you need me sooner or if we need to meet elsewhere, you uh— know how to get a hold of me.
[He added, tapping the side of his head where the device was.]
no subject
[Her finger lightly brushes against the back of her ear where the golden metal is inset into her skin. Embarrassment lightly flushes her cheeks at the realization that the odd device is always with her. It's easy to forget.]
I promise to take good care of Pretzel. So you have no reason to worry.
[Her gaze moves to the pair who are now playing this odd hopping game around the bench that Inesa had claimed. It seems they'd rather stay here and play anyway, so Inesa pulls out her sketchbook once more.]
no subject
[He responded with a small smile, taking one last look at the pair playing before gesturing in a wave as he wandered off to let her get back to her sketchbook.]
