Who: Max, Rhy and Laurie
Where: The Council Room in the Merchant Dome
What: Council meeting
When: August 13th. (Post Baz's post.)
Warnings: Max
[Despite what Max had said to Baz and how he'd argued with him, Max actually is concerned. Honestly, this seems like a fucking shit show and he'd already gone to give the Sphere a good screaming at.
The Sphere as always didn't give a fuck. Fucking Sphere.
So, Max called a meeting of the Council in the Council room in the Merchant Dome. Before anyone else shows up, he's got the good scotch poured into the fancy crystal glasses at each one of the seats at the round wooden table.
His feet are up on it when Laurie comes in looking just as concerned as Max does. Her voice is soft and annoyed.]
Well, this is a pain in the ass. What do we think's going on this time?

I'll need a second one of these. I've heard more whispers, more concerns. More fear. This is worse than the normal bad dreams that pass through here.
no subject
Yeah, it sure the fuck is. We've never had domes go fucking missing before. I don't know what the Sphere is doing now, but it's never taken people's homes unless they've gone home and even then for the last year or so all of the people who have gone home's domes have just been dropped in the abandoned ones.
[Laurie just looked to Rhy with an expression of concern on her face.]
What have you heard?
no subject
Well, so far, we're being blamed for failing to account for this. The assumed incompetency is frustrating. It is not as if we understand what is going on.
So, we've no idea the how or the why of this. Or the extent to which it should continue. Which means we are clearly caught up upon the damage control phase, are we not?
no subject
How the fuck do people not realize that three humans... [Laurie clears her throat and Max immediately corrects.] Three people can't control the giant gold ball that brings people here, implants the communication device in their heads, brings them fucking back to life, supplies the air, food, water and everything else that they need to live and sends people home?
Honestly if I had that fucking power I would have adiosed myself and the black market out of here six fucking years ago.
Max. [Laurie just says, in a long put upon voice, because she's heard all this before.] We need to focus. And honestly I don't care about the damage control of how we're blamed for this or not. We need to be implementing emergency plans in case it keeps happening.
no subject
They're annoyed because they are here, because they have not been returned. We, as thinking beings, fear that which we do not understand, and no one understands the Sphere. But please, Max, don't leave. Where else would we find our fun?
[His attention goes to Laurie. The sensible one.]
It's better to assume it will happen. In fact, it's probably best to assume that it will get worse. The abandoned domes are something we can miss. But residency space... And where might it spiral to from there.
[His fingers card through his hair as he sits down heavily and he sips at his drink.]
Not my first city wide emergency. First concerns: supplies. If we don't know what may be lost first, we must be assured that we can provide for basic neesd.
no subject
People should be given smaller supplies for their personal spaces and use as well.
[Laurie just purses her lips for a moment.]
I think we should plan on trying, if we have a choice to keep the most supplies in the agricultural dome. The merchant dome does it's own replenishing, so that should be fine and while we're growing things over there, it definitely isn't like when we had Persephone to keep things going.
no subject
[This is an organizational mess. Stores in whatever domes we can and... That's a lot. Rationing probably matters too. It feels like the final nights of London all over again.]
We might wish to encourage residents to keep bags on them, with personal effects and emergency supplies. The fact that the Sphere moved the possessions of our displaced Dorm residents to an accessible location was lucky. I suggest we not try and depend upon luck.
[What else? What matters?]
Any non-perishable foods should be put within supply caches. We should be relying only on what is fresh and will spoil sooner.
no subject
[Max doesn't think it would be for nothing.]
But anything ripe now we should use first. But as for what will spoil, we don't know how long the fake meat and blood is going to last for. I think we should try and see if we can grab some of the big refrigerators or freezers from the restaurants in the merchant dome and stick them in agricultural. And some sort of big tent too. We got the ones we use for festivals. I just wish we had more substantial ones.
[Laurie frowns.]
We're going to need every damn tent and spare bedding we can get our hands on, in case it's going to become more of an emergency. And make sure that we can get our hands on the cooking supplies for the parties we've got stored around to cook.
[Max sighs, and rubs his fingers through his hair.]
We're going to need to look at who will be good for security and speak to them quietly. If things go like they did with the moss then we're going to want people who can defend the supplies.
no subject
[The fake meat and blood. Oh dear, the blood. Their vampire residents.]
We do have some strong residents, or those with abilities. They may be able to provide assistance. I will also speak with my brother. There are enchantments that avoid spoilage, can create something not unlike your 'fridges' and other tasks. Even without Antari magic. It may be useful.
[He keeps thinking, and shakes his head.]
Approach Sansa and Inesa at the tailor shop. They could assist with creation of tents and bedding perhaps. We have resources here, and we may be best served by asking them for it. As for blood... Is there a means to store it cold? Perhaps we can ask for volunteers to give? Is that possible?
[He's so behind on 'science'.]
I can start approaching some people, if you wish. I don't tend to... inspire conflict as readily.
[Yes, Max, he saw you arguing.]
no subject
[Laurie's voice is far calmer than Max's. She's been involved in a war back home for longer than she remembers. This is the same sort of crisis they'd experienced before. Sort of.]
Getting them to make bedding is a good idea. I think there's a way for them to take it apart if we end up not needing it even. [That's Max's contribution, before he looks pensive for a moment.] Watts definitely. He's a detective already. I think he'd be good with being someone that people would listen to if we deputized him. Ben Solo maybe. Robb Stark or Jon Snow, the ones who walk around with broadswords.
Someone other than me is going to need to tell Beverly Marsh she can't. She's too young. [And reminds him too much of his daughter and would cause too much of an uprising if she got hurt. Not that he's going to say that.] Rey maybe too. Wanda definitely. Dick Grayson or Garr are another possibility.
no subject
[Rhy is so shocked and confused by just about everything he learns about this new medicine. The world is better with proper healers. And yeah, war... Rhy doesn't miss it. But he'll keep going anyway. Use the experience.
And if Rhy smiles fondly at the mentioning of Watts, well, of course he does.]
Good thing you mentioned women, as I would have pointed out Wanda if nothing else. However, it may also be wise to include the longer term residents. If one does not consider the people more used to the Sphere, then there will be what seems to be favoritism. There should be some selected from their number as well, or you will have more trouble. This I assure you from experience.
[Here's one that the others might not consider. And Rhy is glad to give it.]
Seregil and Alec. While I do not believe it is often that individuals like them should come into play, they keep their ears... open. This could be of value that we might better be aware of the emotional status of the residents.
no subject
You’re right. I’ll come up with a wider group of people from the older population.
[His voice does sound wary however. Max remembers far too much about how they were when the Moss happened.
But he does grin ]
I didn’t mention Wanda first because she might have her hands full with the fucking dragon. And yeah, we’re going to need spies too. You’re right about that. The newer population and the older don’t exactly play nice. I’m worried they’re gonna end up blaming us for this shit.
no subject
Oh, they are absolutely going to blame us for this. Which is why we need people like Seregil and Alec, and others who might have other ways of listening. Maybe that fast boy. Or Bev. Children are seen as more trustworthy.
As for the dragon, I have every confidence in Ms. Maximoff.
no subject
Fucking Loki. [Max just mutters the words before Laurie responds.]
We need to grab some sort of entertainment for the agriculture dome as well. We’re more likely to have issues if people are bored and don’t have distractions to take their minds off of causing problems.
no subject
[Was Rhy deliberately misunderstanding Max? Yep. It's easier to pull the man's leg]
And we're not going to expect people to use the... normal method of entertainment?
no subject
[Max ignores him. For the moment anyway. ]
What do you mean by normal entertainment?
no subject
We should make sure the tents have well sealed doors.
no subject
There are fucking children present, idiot.
[Max scowls at him. ]
We’ll grab whatever books are at the school and my personal movie projector.
no subject
[Max is just too easy to rile up.]
Talk to Richard Strand for additional educational guidance. And music. People like music.
no subject
Good point. I’ll talk to Richard. Maybe the bards too. Unless you want to do it. And when you make the post you can point out a general call for skills that might be helpful.
no subject
Well of course I will be pleased to do so, Max. After all, I'm more personable.
no subject
You’re the new guy. You get to tell people this shit.
[Max just shrugs before Laurie looks to both of him.]
We done here?
no subject
So it would seem. I shall endeavor to relay our message post haste.
no subject
Good. I’m gonna go start getting things ready from the infirmary. Max don’t start anymore shit.
[Max just shrugs not a agreeing to anything. ]
And bring shit from the black market. Things people can’t live with out: booze, smokes whatever else alright?
Yes mother.
[Laurie just rolls her eyes. ]
Good luck, Rhy.
no subject
[Rhy reaches for the decanter and pulls it close again. He'll take this. To help him compose his message.]
Let's hope they don't seek to burn me for this.
no subject
[Max just snorts and pulls out a cigar and lights it.]
Yeah. Welcome to politics.
no subject
[Though normally only from the nobility, who were assholes. He takes the bottle and offers the man a deep bow with an extravagant flare to it.]
I am here to serve.
no subject
[Max just puts his feet back up on the table and takes another draw of his cigar.]
no subject
[And then he jiggles the decanter. Come on. Share.]
no subject
[Max's tone is entirely made of: good luck with that, buddy.]
no subject
[In a more ornery mood he'd have called for fire, but he's smarter than that. Marginally.]
Good day, Max.
no subject
[And he just uses his abilities to slide the bottle back towards him.]
