They’re sleeping, the way they always do with both of them curled up in the sunken bed that dominates the bedroom floor of the dome that they’d been sharing for over a year now, barring the nights when she’d been kidnapped. But it’s not the same two of them that went to bed as it is when they wake up. Not by a long shot. When Alex wakes, it’s not to the sun shining in her windows. Before everything happened with the show, Alex did sleep quite late and needed to set several alarms so she could make work on time.

Right now the only alarm that she’s had is that her face is pressed against someone’s bare chest. Not an entirely unheard of thing happening but it’s not something that she remembers from last night where she had just come home from work alone and had gone to bed alone. Definitely gone to sleep alone and not wherever the fuck this happened to be that was definitely not her sunny bedroom in Seattle!

Attempting to throw herself backwards off the bed, the dim light from the Sphere catches her eye, and the wall around the bed catches her back and Alex can’t help but to let out a scream at both. It’s a true scream and not a sound that Alex actually makes very often, but it’s very her nonetheless. More than that, it's very loud in the small and enclosed space of the bed that the two of them were currently in.

"And you think I did? I'm not the one with some sort of billionaire arch Nemesis!" Alex is just going to huff the words at him dangerously.

"All you have to worry about is figuring out how to get out of here."

"How can I worry about getting out of here if I don't have the facts about how I got in here in the first place?" She scoffs. "And here I thought you were supposed to make sense!"

"You don't need to know my personal history to figure out how to get out of here."

"Don't you know what they say about being forewarned is forearmed? Look. This is about you. This isn't about me. I have no idea about Warren, or this you. Only the you I know."

[nobasisinfact]

"From what I can gather you didn't know much about the me from your world, either." A low blow? Perhapse, but one that he feels is accurate and deserved.

Alex's eyes go flat, and her jaw sets itself into a dangerous way that Richard would have been familiar with if he knew her. It's Alex at her most harsh and bitey and without any of the love that would normally temper such things when she speaks. "Do you want to know what I know about you from my world, Dr. Strand?" Alex's voice is cold and furious. "I know that you're a man who so desperately doesn't want to believe that there's such a thing as a paranormal that you'd do anything to prove that it's not. I know that you're a man whose wife went missing for five days and you were considered the prime suspect in her murder until the cops changed their suspicions to a serial killer who was working in the area. I know that you lie about being married and you attempt to bully anyone who is even open to the possibility beyond what we can prove with your money and your personality. Including me. You're so desperate to disbelieve and disprove things that you use reasoning that doesn't make sense and blame everything on an unhappy marriage just because you had one. You're a man who keeps secrets and tells half-truths at best so you'll have to forgive me if I'm not buying into this bullshit you're trying to sell me, especially when we wake up naked, in bed together and in a place surrounded by what appears to be a happy home."

"I'm sorry to destroy your belief in who you think I am, but I have no reason to use my money in the way you've stated, and I'm quite happy in my marriage. Therefore, it would be best if you ceased thinking of me as the man you met." For his part, Richard doesn't seem put off by what Alex is saying. He's comfortable in his marriage and the time she'd mentioned he'd found his wife and had the situation explained to him. Not that the girl needed to know about it.

"It's not who I think you are. It's who the you I know is. Just because you've gotten lucky and have a different life doesn't make me wrong about him." Alex's chin is up, and she's still got anger in her eyes. "So don't tell me what I do and don't know, Strand."

[nobasisinfact]

"You're not talking to him, are you?" He raises a brow before taking a drink of his scotch and looking around some more. "It'd be best if you remember that when talking to me." It might have sounded condescending (Coralee had told him a number of time that he had a way of doing that), but it was also deserved. This girl, a child, really, had been assuming he was the man she knew since the beginning - he wasn't. Whatever was going on here had given her a clear belief that she knew someone similar to or seeming like himself. She needed to get over that assumption if she was going to be of any use.

“Then stop acting like he does! You’re hiding something that might be the key to getting us out of whatever this Warren guy has done. Look,” Alex just sighs and she blows her hair out of her face. “Just ask me whatever you want and we can like try and figure this thing out.”

"Leaving this room will get us out of here." His tone is flat and with certainty. Something outside will be a tell. It'll get them out of this funhouse of Warren's and get them back to where they are supposed to be - then he'll be rid of this child who has every intention of digging into his life.

Does Alex entirely disagree? Yep, but at the same time, it's not like they have a whole lot of other options when it comes down to it. "And if it doesn't?" It's a question that is loaded, because it can't not be as Alex finds shoes for her absurdly small feet that fit.

[nobasisinfact]

"We'll come to that if we need to." Richard isn't going to dispute the fact that there is entirely too much clothing that fits her in this room or the fact that there are fish outside the window. What he is going to dispute is the fact that he wouldn't be with a girl who is younger than his own daughter. Not even if he and Coralee weren't together.

Well, he's certainly going to feel like an idiot in a few days or so, isn't he? Alex however just rolls her eyes again and grabs a sweater from the back of a chair and puts it on, feeling a bit more like herself. But then she remembers something and starts scouring the room.

Richard can't help the frustrated sigh as he watches her. It's always something with this girl. Not the least bit organized or logical. It's simply annoying. "What are you looking for now?"

"My recorder!" Alex says it like he should know what it is, but that's because she's assuming that the Strand she knows would know it. "If they faked all this stuff then they'd definitely should have known to stick it in here somewhere. Knowing me, if I got kidnapped, I'd definitely would have like recorded it!"

And there goes the eye roll once again. They're trapped in an awful situation and need to find a way out, yet she has to find a damned recorder. It's like him trying to find a particular book that he just has to have. Completely unneeded and useless. "You don't need a damned recorder."

"How do you know what I need and what I don't?" Alex huffs at him quickly, and she keeps looking. "If this Warren guy captured me, then maybe this might have some clues to where the hell we are. Which you would think we would need if this is all some sort of weird ass set up!"

[nobasisinfact]

If this recorder of hers is going to have anything on it then there has to be a reason. It could be that she carries it everywhere. It's more likely that Warren would have created a false recording on it. "You mean to tell me that you probably recorded it?" Honestly though, who does that?

“I might have. I record things all the time. It’s my job!” Alex is just going to protest things. Loudly. “Your instinct might be to reach for a book when there’s something going on. Mine is to reach for my recorder. And if they have shoes and photos and everything they should have that!”

[nobasisinfact]

"Fine." Sighing heavily, he moves to open the door. He doesn't want to be stuck with this girl anymore than he has to be.

Alex just gives up where she’s picking up a pillow on the sofa. There’s more evidence of them actually living there underneath it but she just frowns. “Hey. Wait up.” The last thing she wants to be is trapped in here by herself.
