February Open Log
blue moon
So the people within the Sphere City miss the moon. At least, that’s what someone can draw from the fact that as January slips into February, large images of the moon are everywhere. The Full moon, to be more specific. There are silver streamers around the merchant dome, and lights have been modified to have a more silver than golden glow in appearance, even at all hours of the day there. Sure it makes things a bit difficult to see, but that’s not really a problem is it?
At night, several domes have large projections of the moon made against the domes. They’re pictures of the moon in varying states of artistic and scientific values. There's a kind of dreamy music that’s played, and a lot of the locals have silver flowers in their hair. Fire pits are common, and older residents are seated around them, telling tales of the moon and its connection to the waters above them. Some stories tell how it glows and shines or is made of green cheese. They also tell how sometimes there were people in the moon, men or women, gods or goddesses, or animals like rabbits. And some stories tell of how the moon would make people mad, and that’s where the term lunacy comes from.
Oh, and there are a few stories about werewolves too. And about how there walking among the people in the Sphere. Even now.
Food at the festival is based around the moon too, or at least the idea of the moon. There’s mooncake of course, but there’s also moon pies, half moon cheese pies, and pierogi, and various cheese and cracker platters, because the moon is made of green cheese after all. There’s moon-based cocktails, that are blue and silver. And some that are shimmering and shining.
People can draw fortunes from the moonwell, but, they’re silly and nonsensical, and people eat the silvery rice paper after they’re finished with them. A few of them however have more ominous sort of fortunes in them. Things like “help me” or “they’re out to get you” or “they’re coming and you can’t stop them.” People shrug those ones off too though. if someone asks about them.
what big eyes you have
So, there are rumors about werewolves that have been circulating around town, and people seem to be given red cloaks at random. Pretty girls and women are offered them the most, but they are open to anyone. If people put them on, which the surrounding locals will cheer and encourage them to do. Then they tell them that their clue is in their pockets and that they will save the town.
In the pockets is another silver disk with a list of names on it. One of those names is a werewolf. You’re given three clues (something like: ‘wearing a blue sweater’ or ‘bald man’ or ‘at the candy stall’) for each one, and then you either accuse them of being a werewolf or clear them. If you accuse them and you’re correct then you’re given a small vial with glowing stones in it and are told that they were actually pieces of the moon before it was lost. Whatever that means. You may want to hold onto them.
If you accuse them and you’re wrong, the game is over for you for the moment and the cloak is taken away. Each cloak has a different list of six names on it, and the names replenish every time someone gets a new cloak. Why yes, the Sphere is playing a game of werewolf with you. How the game goes entirely up to you, and whether or not your character gets invested or what. NPCs are definitely available for this if need be! Please feel free to go a little nuts with this, and player characters can definitely be one of the suspects if they're up for it.
something that was lost can be found.
It’s big news around Sphere City: some old lost and sealed domes have been found along the edges of town. Not only have they been found, but they’re open! Not only are they open but the stuff inside is there on a first come first serve basis. These old domes show no signs of dust, but there are some personal effects within them, pictures and the like. They definitely belonged to someone who had been pulled into the city at some point within the last seven years.
And they’re definitely worth checking out. One never knows one might find in them. Various varieties of clothing are available, as are books, food items (probably shouldn’t eat them), toys and there may or may not be some magical or important historical things hidden here or there if your character is very lucky. Mod note: Nothing world breaky or living can be found, but small things like potions or jewelry or amulets or small weapons (daggers or guns with a very limited amount of bullets.)

He's never paid much attention to the moon, beyond the fact that it's what allows him to see when he's outside at night, and some nights it's brighter than others. Any details more specific than that are the concern of the maesters. It's the stories that have caught his attention, stories about things he's never heard of before. It sounds strange at first, men who can become wolves, but then he remembers Orell's ability to enter the mind of his eagle and these werewolves don't seem so unbelievable anymore.
He lingers around the fires to hear the stories, but is careful not to get too close. He knows what fire can do, and treats it with a healthy dose of caution. He's enjoying the food though, because it's a bigger variety that he usually had in Westeros.
He even pulls a fortune from the well: There is someone rather annoying in your life that you need to listen to.
Must be Sansa.
Something lost
He hadn't headed for the newly-opened domes when he first heard about them. It wasn't until a couple of days later, when he also heard that possessions left behind by former residents had been found in them, that he decides to go there. Bran was here for awhile. Maybe one of the domes has something that was left behind by him. Even if it doesn't, there might be something else useful there. He won't know if he doesn't look, so go looking is what he does.
February 15-22; he's not himself right now (AU)]
[ooc: After the 22nd, through the end of the month, he'll be back to his regular self after spending a week as his "what if Robert's Rebellion failed" version.]
To him, after he wakes up in this new place, all he has to do is adjust to life here. He's still Aemon Targaryen, recently returned to King's Landing from Winterfell. Only now he's found himself here instead of at the Red Keep. Sansa's still here with him, and that's what's important here.
Those who have met him, or even those who have noticed him around the spheres but don't know him well, the difference is obvious. The scars are gone; his life as the son of the king has been less harsh than that even of his cousins in the north. He doesn't have a knife with him everywhere he goes now, nor does he spend time every day practicing how to use either that or a sword. He seems, in general, happier.
This is most apparent in the way he does spend his days. He hasn't got a harp, but he doesn't need one -- he can sing just fine without one. And sing he does, whether he's got an audience or is just walking down a hallway somewhere. Songs taught to him by his father, or songs his mother learned during her childhood. A song had brought his parents together, and songs have provided the basis of the family. It's almost enough for him to be able to ignore the growing threat from the north that his uncle Benjen has been warning them about.
Almost.
Wildcard
Find him somewhere during the month. He's Jon for most of the month, and Aemon for a week. If you have questions or details to work out, find me at
not themselves
They would be beautiful children, there was no doubt of that.
But, that was some time off. Granted, Sansa had only been here a few days but she already was making plans for their own nuptials here. If they were to get married soon at home, then they could get married soon here. Perhaps not according to Westerosi customs, but they could make do- there were beautiful trees here, they could easily get wed before those.
"You have to sing Florian and Jonquil next!" She tells him, her fingers laced with his. Her arms are bare, as scar-less as his were. She was more open now, easily giggling and leaning into Aemon with an ease no one here would have seen. That was to say: she was thirsty.

"It would be better with accompaniment, but I can make do without."

"You shall sing for Florian, then?" She knew her lines well, having forced both Robb and her father into playing the role many a time.
no subject
"What else would I sing?" He's happy to sing what's been requested.
no subject
She was glad she had Aemon to love.
She grins, and closes the distance between them, pressing her nose against his in a brief show of affection, before she begins to sing.
no subject
He's seldom happier than when he's singing, which is a trait he picked up from his father. It's not uncommon to catch his father singing something during private moments in the Red Keep. He was too young to remember details, but everyone has said that life at the Red Keep is better under his father than it had been under his grandfather, and he hopes it will stay that way into the future.
February 15; (AU)
She didn't notice the changes. Not yet. She was too excited. She had spent a few months readying her surprise and now it was time to show him.
"Will you follow me? I have a surprise for you."
She was wearing a light yellow dress that went down to her ankles with brown worn leather boots up to her knees. Her hair was down in wheat colored waves while bright blue-gray eyes met his.
no subject
"I think you have me confused with someone else."
no subject
"Oh... I-" She suddenly looked unsure. "Maybe. You look... very similar."
She wasn't sure what to do. This was him but it wasn't. The similarities couldn't be ignored but neither could the differences. "Well, I don't know how long the surprise will last. Perhaps I can show you and you can tell me what you think. I'd like to apologize for mistaking you now, if I can." She also wanted to know who this was... was it really not Jon?
no subject
"I'll take a look if you would like me to." He doesn't know what his opinion will count for, but he'll give it anyway.
no subject
She waited until he was following her before looking up at him with a frown. "Do you have a cousin named Jon who looks just like you?"
no subject
no subject
This isn't her Jon but she doesn't know what's going on.
"I'm unsure. You look just like him. Perhaps I remembered his name wrong. What is your name? Do you mind if I ask?" She leads him to the park and then to a small area that she's yet to show anyone. It's out of the way and under a red velvet rope that she'd strung up to protect her surprise. On the other side of the rope is a field of grass and large closed buds. The area is surrounded by tress but almost in a secluded room from the rest of the sphere.
"I need to turn off the lights but you can step to the center there, carefully. Don't hurt the plants if you can help it."
no subject
It's a little strange, but he does it, carefully, avoiding the plants the best that he can. "Alright. This is meant for a specific person?"

"It might be useful to be familiar with a place such as this, just in case." You never know when you might need somewhere to hide.
no subject
"And no, it's not stealing. Because the people who they belong to? They're home now. They don't need this stuff. And it's better to have people use it than just letting it all get all gross and go to rot or whatever. When I go home, I'd rather have my stuff be useful. And I know people who've left who've felt the same way." Which is why Bev always takes stuff from people she knows who've left if she can catch it earlier enough. Sometimes she doesn't but...
"Yeah, there's been like a lot of things it's useful to hide from. Like the ghosts."
no subject
"I know about the sharing of memories. Do things like the ghosts happen often here?"
no subject
"Weird shit happens all the time here. There's been demons and ghosts and people got turned into little kids and like we kept feeling alone in domes even when we were in them with other people." Bev just explains it entirely matter-of-fact because after two years in places like this it's become the norm.
"But there are useful things here."
no subject
"Let's see what we can find then."
