He smiled and chuckled bashfully, looking down. Aaron had never been good at accepting praise, and he didn't do anything he did for the recognition. He did it because...well, he had to. It wasn't out of a sense of obligation or duty, though. He was simply incapable of seeing another person in need and not offering a hand.
"Well, when I get home, I'll do my best to remember that." He reached across the table, then, taking the gingerbread cookie and breaking it in half, moving one back to her side. "But we're not in Kansas right now, Dorothy, and I get the feeling the undersea nation of Oz has more than a few men behind curtains." He made a motion to her half of the remainder of the cookie. "And we'll figure that out together."
