And really, they haven't let any of these things past them yet. So anything up ahead is some new and exciting danger, and better the devil you know. For the moment, at least.

Decapitation never feels great, when you're the one doing the decapitating. It probably doesn't feel great on the receiving end either, but Simon hasn't lost his head yet to know the difference. He just knows it's probably his least-favorite way to kill something, and when that something's head hits the ground, it's echoed by a very quiet "blech" from Simon.

"I hate when it sounds like that," Simon says, and sticks with just fileting his next victim. "Like dropping a watermelon. A squishy one. With eyes.

"Idea, though: why don't you run ahead? I'll catch up."
