The Walls Are Closing In Part Two: The Calm before the Storm
Everyone in the Sphere is now crammed into the Agricultural dome. This sucks, but it’s not as bad as it could be. Or that it will be as time goes on. There are Domed tents that the Sphere has provided in long and tight rows. Within them, there are basic essentials of a bed and bedding and light. However, there’s not clothing or anything else within them. No chairs, sofas or what not. They’re small and they have very close quarters but at least they aren’t open air and people have some privacy.

In the center of the Dome, like the middle of a wheel is the large temporary supplies tent that the council has been stocking with food and medical supplies and stuff since the rec dome disappeared. There are the refrigerators from the merchant dome and dry supplies are there too. There’s also a supply there of books and games and other things for entertainment value.

Between meals, the long portable tables with folding benches are open to use them, and school is running at them as well.

Meals are provided at either end of the supply tent, cooked over the festival sort of equipment. The first things that are served are anything fresh: produce and meat. Within the supply tent, there’s places to deal with the trash and the massive amount of dishes and pots and pans feeding almost a thousand people accrue.

Additionally there are activities that community members have provided. At night Max shows movies against the wall of the tent. Different bards and storytellers have set up various places. Laurie and Jon give people first aid training. There’s trivia nights and the like. The Council is basically trying to do its best to keep the population calm and happy while they wait for the Sphere to fix this.

The Storm Hits
On August 25th, it becomes apparent that this isn’t going to be something as short as the council likes. They start doing food rations and keeping track of who’s eaten etc in order to conserve supplies. As a response to this, discontent breaks out within the community of the Sphere, both the older population and the new.

People start to strip the things growing within the Dome, stealing anything that seems to be still green that can be dried and used later.

Factions begin to form, and people start to intimidate, bully and outright steal other people’s food rations. They form gangs, trying to kick people out of tents in order to create more exclusive communities that only they can control. With a complete lack of care for who is in them, these factions will begin to use whatever means they can in order to remove people who they don’t trust in their communities, preying especially on the weak or those who they perceive to be.

Further, members of the factions will break into the tents of other residents, stealing bedding and stored food and personal items. It’s not quite violent yet, but it’s definitely something that hasn’t happened before in the Domes. Not even when the Moss happened was it this bad.

The Council then deputizes people in order to be security, especially as all hell starts to break loose. On August 28th the factions within the population are firmly established and are making organized attempts on both other factions as well as the supply tent itself. There are people with abilities in the old population too, and they are using them to attempt to fight the people blocking their access. This should be a realistic fight, with no one side being able to totally dominate the other. Unfortunately for everyone there is no easy way out of this. Feel free to have smaller skirmishes and being battles, or to have your character get caught between them. This is horrible and violent and it shouldn’t be something that people can ignore.

The older population will try and kill whoever they have to in order to be able to wrestle control over this.

The Shit Hits the Fan
On August 31st it starts with a flicker, and a dimming of the lights before they eventually shudder to the barest minimum of emergency lighting. For the first time since anyone has been here, the dome has something approaching true night. Everything is shadowed, and as the dark day at the bottom of the ocean goes on, the air feels stale and keeps getting more stale. And it starts to get cold as no light and no fresh air also means no more heat. The dome itself makes sure that no one itself is going to freeze to death. Yet.
