[For his part, Loki clenched his jaw as she pulled him close, trying not to tense. The last time he'd seen his mother, he'd said such awful things, and it had been a year since he'd felt the warmth of her skin against his own, or anyone's for that matter. All he'd had all that time were his illusions. Since his release from captivity, he'd taken his mother's words to heart, that one loses track of what's real when one lives in illusions too long.

She'd notice the shine in his eyes a she held him to look him over, but he swallowed before he actually speaks.
